City Flags Will Fly at Half-Staff
Our City is saddened by the loss of life which occurred Monday afternoon when a KC-130 refueling plane crashed in Mississippi, and will lower city flags to half-staff in tribute to our fallen heroes. 16 service members lost their lives in the tragedy, including 9 stationed at Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh, New York.
“The KC-130’s stationed at Stewart fly over our city all the time. They are a welcome sight in our skies and so recognizable when we hear them and look up. On behalf of all our residents, and all our City employees, we express our deep condolences to the families and friends of the fallen, and to our neighbors to the South, we salute you at this time of great loss”, Mayor Rolison said in the order directing flags be lowered.
