Mayor Calls for Additional Measures in Light of Recent Shootings and Homicides

There will be a press conference in the City of Poughkeepsie Common Council Chambers (City Hall, 62 Civic Center Plaza) on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11am.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Additional overtime for Police patrols, including foot patrols
  • The seeking of funds from New York State for Anti-Violence Disrupter Programs modeled after other community’s programs
  • Meetings with Dutchess County and other agencies for additional resources
  • The formation of steering committee to implement a Civil Patrol program
  • Increased community awareness of the City’s Cash for Tips program

“I encourage continued cooperation by the public with the City’s Police Department. In the past, cooperation has resulted in a number of leads that were pursued by detectives. Traffic Advisory: Intersection Hooker and Woodland Avenue

A vehicle hit and damage the traffic light controller at the intersection of Hooker and Woodland Avenue on Thursday, July 16th. Temporary stop signs have been placed on both Woodland and Mildred Avenues.

Street Closing, N Clinton St – July 15th

Wednesday July 15th, Robinson Excavators have closed N Clinton Street. They will be working on lanes bordering the Mansion Square Park, between the north and south Mansion Street. Work zones are in place and emergency vehicles will be accommodated

Street Closing, N Clinton St – Tuesday, July 14th

On Tuesday July 14th, beginning at 7:00am Robinson Excavators will be closing N Clinton Street . They will be working on N Clinton between the north and south Mansion Street lanes bordering the Mansion Square Park. Work zones will be in place and emergency vehicles will be accommodated.

Road Work Notice – Lincoln Avenue

Contractors have closed the south bound lane on Lincoln Avenue between Columbia and Reade Place, Monday, July 13th, 2015, to repair an undermining road condition. Work zones are in place and emergency vehicles will be accommodated.

Road Work Notice: Oakley Street

The City of Poughkeepsie Water Department, Central Hudson, and contractor Thomas Gleason will be closing the eastern end of Oakley Street, at Smith Street beginning today, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, and continuing for approximately 3 weeks.  Workers will be capping/moving gas mains and repairing a water main break at this location. Oakley Street can be accessed via North Clinton Street. Work zones will be in place and emergency vehicles will be accommodated.

During the water main repairs, residents  may experience a temporary disruption in their water service and/or low water pressure. Once the repairs are made and the water is restored, residents should run the water until it is clear if cloudy. If you have any questions or concerns please call DPW Dispatch at (845) 451-4111.

Holiday Schedule: Memorial Day (Monday, May 25)

In observance of Memorial Day (Monday, May 25, 2015), the following services will be closed or suspended:

  • City Hall & City Court: Closed
  • Transfer Station: Closed
  • Bus Service: Suspended – Resumes Tuesday morning (May 26, 2015)
  • Sanitation: No pickup on Monday, May 25th. Monday route pickups will occur on Tuesday, May 26th. Tuesday route pickups will occur on Wednesday, May 27th.
    • Due to the staggered schedule, yard debris will not be collected on Wednesday, May 27th. The next yard debris collection will take place on Wednesday, June 3rd.

Central Hudson Gas Main & Service Replacement Program – North & South Clover Street

On Tuesday, May 26, 2015, Central Hudson will be begin a gas main and service replacement program in the area of North & South Clover Street. The project will be phased, with work beginning on South Clover Street and ending on North Clover Street. Final paving for the project is scheduled for October 2015.
