Hydrant Flushing on Fox Street

Due to water a water main repair, we are currently working on the hydrant located at Fox Street at Livingston Street.  The hydrant may be opened for an extended period of time to be monitored by City personnel.  Addresses local to the area may experience low water pressure and slight water discoloration.  Any questions can be directed to City of Poughkeepsie Water Department at (845) 451-4111.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Hydrant Flushing Schedule – October 2013

The Water Department will continue the hydrant flushing program through October. Hydrants will be flushed on a rotating schedule in the following areas:

  • During Rotation #1, the Water Department will flush the hydrants on South Avenue, Spratt Avenue, and Pembroke Drive.
  • During Rotation #2, the Water Department will flush the hydrants on Mansion Square, Hoffman Avenue, and Glenwood Avenue.

Hydrant Flushing Program

Beginning today, Wednesday July 17th 2013, the Water Department will be implementing a hydrant flushing program. Hydrants will be flushed on a rotation schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

During Rotation #1, the Water Department will be flushing hydrants on South Ave., Spratt Ave.and Pembroke Dr.

During Rotation #2, the Water Department will be flushing hydrants on Mansion Square, Hoffman Ave. and Glenwood Ave..

Rotation Schedule:

  • 7/22/13 – rotation #1
  • 7/24/13 – rotation # 2
  • 7/26/13 – rotation #1
  • 7/29/13 – rotation #2
  • 7/31/13 – rotation #1

The Water Department will continue to flush on this rotating schedule until further notice. If you have any questions or concerns, please call DPW Dispatch at (845) 451-4111.

The water is safe to consume during the flushing period. It is recommended that you should wait twenty four hours after the flushing has been completed in the vicinity of your neighborhood before running white laundry.
