Common Council Seeks Members for Salary Review Commission

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the City of Poughkeepsie Common Council is looking for members to serve on the City of Poughkeepsie Salary Review Commission. Please send letters of interest and resumes to Deanne L. Flynn, City Chamberlain to City Hall, Office of the City Chamberlain, 62 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601, [email protected] or by fax at 845-451-4239 by the end of the business day, Tuesday, May 8, 2018.

Under the new City Charter, adopted by voter referendum in November 2016, there will be a Salary Review Commission every four years to make recommendations to the Mayor and Common Council regarding salaries for elected officials.

The Salary Review Commission includes seven members.  Three are appointed by the Mayor, three are appointed by the Common Council, and one is elected by the members of the Commission at their first meeting, convened at the call of the Mayor in June 2018.

The Commission will serve from June 2018 and issue recommendations by January 1, 2019.  The new salary levels will then be established by a majority vote of the Common Council.
