Poughkeepsie City Center Connectivity Project

“Market Street Connect” – October 7, 2016

october7

On October 7th, the City of Poughkeepsie will use temporary materials to test ideas for making Market Street a “Complete Street” – a street designed for everyone, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities.

Dubbed Market Street Connect, the temporary pilot project will allow the City and its residents, businesses and partner agencies to test and gather feedback on design changes that will help turn Market Street into a greater asset for the downtown.

City staff and volunteers will be on Market Street all day working on the project.

  • 4:00 PM at the intersection of Market St. and Main St:

Market Street Connect Survey

Market Street Connect will examine ideas for transforming the street into a Complete Street as a demonstration project, starting with the temporary programming and creation of new public spaces in the right-of-way. By temporarily converting travel lanes into more public space, the City of Poughkeepsie hopes to demonstrate how art and engaging programming could be part of Market Street’s future.

Market Street Connect is a multi-phase effort that aims to transform the heart of the community through a catalytic project. As part of this effort, the questions below will better inform us on how to make Downtown Poughkeepsie a more vibrant and connected place! This should take no more than 5 minutes to complete. Thank you for participating!
