Board of Assessment Review
The City of Poughkeepsie Board of Assessment Review meets once a year to hear residents’ challenges to tax assessments.

Charter Review Commission
The City of Poughkeepsie Charter Review Commission was established to study, review and recommend changes to the City of Poughkeepsie Charter and Administrative Code.

Ethics Committee
It is the mission of the Ethics Committee to uphold a high degree of moral conduct by ensuring compliance to the City of Poughkeepsie Code of Ethics for city public officers, employees, and appointed volunteers, by promoting integrity through informing these persons of their ethical responsibility, and by acting as impartial arbiters of alleged violations of the Code of Ethics.

Historic District & Landmark Preservation Commission (HDLPC)
The HDLPC is a group of city residents appointed by the Mayor who are charged with reviewing all plans for the moving, exterior construction, alteration or repair, landscaping or demolition or any change in the exterior appearance of places, sites, structures or buildings designated landmarks or landmark sites and all places, sites, structures or buildings wholly or partly within the boundaries of a historic district.

Industrial Development Agency (IDA)
The mission of the City of Poughkeepsie Industrial Development Agency (IDA) is to build the industrial and economic strength and resilience of the City with the intent of growing employment, jobs and city revenue.

The Planning Board reviews a variety of development-related applications.

Public Arts Commission
The City of Poughkeepsie Public Arts Commission’s duty is to expand community awareness and advocate for the role and value of arts and culture in civic life.

Shade Tree Commission
The Shade Tree Commission (STC) was formed in 1978 in order to study the problems and needs of the city in connection with its tree planting program.

Waterfront Advisory Committee
The Waterfront Advisory Committee (WAC) was created by Mayor and Common Council in 1986, and has served in an advisory capacity to the Mayor, Common Council, Planning Board, and other City officials for all activities and/or developments within the delineated boundaries of the Local Waterfront Revitalization Zone.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a quasi-judicial board that is responsible for making zoning interpretations, recommending zoning changes to the Common Council, approving changes of legal nonconforming uses, and for ruling on area and use variance requests.
