Mission
Create positive outcomes for the development of youth through collaboration and strategic planning with City’s stakeholders. Supporting the mission through staff development and program review. These efforts will result in a safe environment for City youth to flourish and contribute to their overall success.
What does the Youth Services Division offer?
The Youth Services Division offers support to its Grantees and stake holders in the community. The support include staff development, resource access, and collaboration. The City of Poughkeepsie Youth Activities and Opportunities Grant provides funding to organizations, clubs, leagues, and/or educational institutions or groups that offer opportunities for City of Poughkeepsie children to participate in community based youth programs, projects, activities, and camps that emphasize active lifestyles, foster youth development, facilitate performance, provide instructional guidance, and engender a spirit of community in the City of Poughkeepsie. The goal is supporting the programs in making a positive impact on the City’s youth.

Mandatory Trainings
The City wants to ensure staff development for the programs part of the initiative. FREE staff development trainings are offered which includes Mandated Reporter Training and Positive Youth Development Training.
The Positive Youth Development 101 Series consists of the following six workshops:
- Principles of PYD
- Puberty and Adolescence
- Youth and Technology
- Youth Development Programing
- Youth Voice and Engagement
- Youth Works Ethics
