The city has launched a website providing the public with easy ways to look at the approximate $103 million budget and its various components, as well as offering new insights on vital demographic information in the city.
The website features graphics and charts and breaks down the budget in several easy-to-use methods, including summaries of specific categories of funds and expenditures by key departments.
To create the website, the city worked with ClearGov, launched in 2015 to help the public better understand how their local tax dollars are being spent within their communities.
“The city is continually looking to find ways to make it easier for the public to find information,” said City Administrator Marc Nelson. “Presenting the budget in this new format will be highly beneficial for city residents and others wanting to know how the city obtains its revenue and spends tax dollars for the betterment of the community.”
Administrator Nelson pointed out this is the third web-related improvement by the city in recent months.
Last fall, the city rolled out a complete overhaul of its main website that expands options and provides residents with interactive ways to use the website, such as by signing up for text updates and alerts to stay informed about city government.
In a separate effort, assisted by Capital Markets Advisors, LLC, and Local Government Solutions, LLC, the city developed a website devoted to providing the public with information on the city’s plan for federal American Rescue Plan Act funds.
