City pools had lots of activity on their closing day on Monday – and throughout the season!
The pools opened in late June and entrance fees were waived once again this year.
Both the Pulaski Park Pool located on Washington Street and Spratt Park Pool located on Wilbur Boulevard racked up plenty of visitors – Pulaski receiving 10,786, and Spratt getting 11,810 visitors over the course of the season.
Earlier this year, the city put more financial resources to address staffing issues in light of a nationwide lifeguard shortage that resulted in some municipalities not being able to open their pools this year. The city’s pool staff includes a pool manager, 24 lifeguards and nine pool attendants, many of whom are now heading back to school.
City officials want to thank them all for their excellent work to help us get the pools open and to ensure everyone's safety!
