The city's Celebration of Lights event took place last Friday, Dec. 2, and featured dance and musical performances, food trucks, floats, Santa Claus and fireworks.
This year, the various festivities centered around Dongan Square Park, and a “Renewable Holiday Village” was created highlighting recyclables and renewables in a festive mood of community celebration. The Mural Square holiday tree also also was lit earlier in the day.
The city thanks the Public Arts Commission and the Bardavon for co-sponsoring and to Artistic Director Andres San Milan for helping organize the event.
Other sponsors include Mahoney's Irish Pub & Steakhouse, Milanese Italian Restaurant, The Derby Poughkeepsie, Erin O'Neill's Pub & Grill, Geodis, Rhinebeck Bank, EFCO Products, Inc., and CR Properties Group, LLC.
The event culminated with fireworks sponsored by the Poughkeepsie River District Business Association.
