Common Council members recently participated in key training programs hosted by the city’s Corporation Counsel, Development, and Finance departments.
The members received more insights on the city’s planning and zoning laws and budgeting and capital planning, among other topics. Finance Commissioner Brian Martinez, Corporation Counsel Rebecca Valk and Development Director Natalie Quinn made presentations to the council members and took questions.
“This training is important so that we can better serve the public,” said Common Council Chair Natasha Brown. “We need to stay up on the latest developments and concepts, and we appreciate the city staff who took the time this evening to work with us.”
Council members and the mayor are tasked with receiving eight hours of training annually. Attending this particular training session were Brown and council members Lorraine Johnson, Nathan Shook, Yvonne Flowers, Chris Grant, Nedra Thompson, and Megan Diechler.
