Poughkeepsie Animal Adoption Program
Our Animal Control Unit has an adoption program for dogs in need of homes. Captured strays are spayed or neutered and immunized.
There is a fee for adopting these dogs, which allows us to provide them with basic veterinary care. Dogs become eligible for adoption after seven days under city care.
To qualify for adoption you must fill out the adoption application in the links at the top of the page and be approved. Applications can be mailed, faxed, or emailed.
