Poughkeepsie Hires Interim Economic Development Director

Mayor Rob Rolison announced today that Paul Calogerakis has joined the city’s development team as Interim Director of Economic Development.

The position will spearhead the city’s economic development efforts and will be responsible for overseeing the Development Department, including Planning, Economic Development, Social Development and the boards and commissions falling under the purview of the Development Department.  The Interim Director of Economic Development will act as a primary contact for various city organizations, business groups and professional associations, the real estate community and non-profits as their activities relate to economic development in the city.

Mr. Calogerakis, a City of Poughkeepsie resident, has more than 30 years of commercial banking experience and has been on the board of directors of numerous civic and non-profit organizations over the years, including Chairing the former Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation, Poughkeepsie Area Chamber of Commerce, the Council of Industry, Poughkeepsie Rotary Club, and is a founding member and past chairman of the Poughkeepsie Alliance.  He is also a former City of Poughkeepsie Common Council member and member of the City Planning Board.  Mr. Calogerakis was most recently the chairman of the Poughkeepsie Industrial Development Agency.

Mr. Calogerakis is a graduate of Vassar College, holds an MBA in Finance and was elected “Banker of the Year” by the New York Business Development Corporation.
