City Sees 10% Increase in Building Permit Applications
City Officials announced today that the City received 1,915 building permit applications during 2018, up from 1,741 the year before.
City Administrator Marc Nelson said “building permits are a leading economic indicator for local governments. We’re experiencing increased building activity in all quarters of the City, much of which is being driven by homeowners handling deferred maintenance or taking on that smaller project they’ve been meaning to get to for some time”
“The public is reminded that City staff are a great resource for those who could use help navigating the permitting process or understanding local zoning regulations”, Nelson said.
The City’s Building Department is located on the second floor of City Hall, and is open weekdays 8:30AM to 4:30PM. Residents planning spring projects are encouraged to visit in person to discuss plans and to learn more about local regulations and the permitting process. Developers and residents with larger projects, such as additions, are encouraged to reach out to the City’s Planning and Zoning Department, which is also located on the second floor of City Hall.
