Common Council Seeks Volunteers Interested in Serving on the Southern Waterfront Site Redevelopment Task Force

The City of Poughkeepsie Common Council is seeking volunteers interested in serving on the Southern Waterfront Site Redevelopment Task Force.

Interested individuals should submit a cover letter and resume to the Common Council at  [email protected]. The Application deadline is March 20, 2021.

The Southern Waterfront Site Redevelopment Task Force will investigate and report on the options for the redevelopment of the waterfront land that was formerly the site of the DeLaval Separator Company and is now vacant.  It will meet over a three-month period to hear from potential developers, redevelopment experts, community members and stakeholders.

Lifelong City of Poughkeepsie Resident Is Appointed Chamberlain

City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison has announced the hiring of Jasmin Nicole Davis as City Chamberlain.

Davis’ appointment was approved by the Common Council on Monday night.

The City Chamberlain performs numerous tasks, including preparing agenda items for  public meetings, taking minutes of those meetings and handling marriage license applications and other vital records.

“The Chamberlain position is such an important one to the public, and I am confident Jasmin Nicole Davis will do an excellent job,” said Mayor Rob Rolison. Jasmin has considerable experience in public relations and is a lifelong City of Poughkeepsie resident.”

“I’m very excited and honored to accept this job and to be a part of the great things happening with the revitalization of the city,” Davis said.

Davis was most recently Assistant Marketing Director for the Poughkeepsie Galleria and is a graduate of Long Island University where she majored in public relations and minored in electronic journalism.

She is a Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce “Forty Under 40” Award Recipient (2020) as well as a Leadership Dutchess Graduate, in addition to participating in numerous other community-related events.

“The City Chamberlain and the Chair of the Council work in tandem, and I’m looking forward to working with Jasmin Davis,” said Common Council Chair Sarah Salem. “Between her experience and energy, she has what it takes to make a great City Chamberlain and I’m pleased to welcome her to City Hall. Congratulations on your approved appointment, Jasmin!”

Long-Time City of Poughkeepsie Chamberlain to Leave Post

City of Poughkeepsie officials announced that City Chamberlain Deanne L. Flynn will be leaving city government to pursue other opportunities. Ms. Flynn, a long-time city resident, has held the position for more than 12 years. During her tenure, she has interacted personally with thousands of current and former city residents and has come to know many in the community personally.

Mayor Rob Rolison, who reappointed Ms. Flynn to the position in 2016 and again in 2020, said “Deanne has served our city with the type of enthusiasm that has made it easy for our community to conduct their important business with the Chamberlain’s office in a timely and professional manner. On behalf of a grateful community, I wish her every success.”

Ms Flynn’s last day with the City will be January 31. Deputy City Chamberlain Donna DeLuca has been named Acting City Chamberlain, effective February 1. She has served as Deputy City Chamberlain for the last 8 years.
