Poughkeepsie Attorney Joins City’s Corporation Counsel Team
City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison announced today the appointment of Sarah Wilson as Assistant Corporation Counsel.
The Corporation Counsel’s office represents the City government in all legal matters, including prosecuting various criminal actions in City Court and providing legal advice to the Mayor, Common Council and all City Departments.
Before joining the City Corporation Counsel, Wilson worked for the local firm of McCabe & Mack LLP where she practiced insurance defense litigation and handled intellectual property matters. She serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Barrett Art Center and was the Chair of the City of Poughkeepsie Public Arts Commission from 2017 through May 2019.
“Sarah has an excellent reputation in the community,” said Mayor Rob Rolison. “She is an exemplary attorney and a great addition to our team. We are grateful to have her on board.”
Wilson, who lives in the City of Poughkeepsie, moved to the Hudson Valley after living in Chicago where she attended law school at DePaul University. She originally hails from Michigan and earned her B.A. and M.A. in Art History from Michigan State University and Brooklyn College, respectively.
“The addition of Sarah will allow our office to continue the City’s aggressive enforcement of vacant and abandoned properties and other quality of life nuisances,” said Paul Ackermann, the City’s Corporation Counsel. “Her background as a litigator allows for continuity in the office of Corporation Counsel. As a resident of the City of Poughkeepsie and the former chair of the Arts Commission, she has a demonstrated passion for the City.”
