The City of
Poughkeepsie Section 8 Housing Program will begin accepting applications for
placement on the Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List on March 2, 2020, through
April 30, 2020.
Applications will be
available beginning March 2, 2020 at the Section 8 Housing Office located at: 1
Civic Center Plaza, Suite 301, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
Applications will be
available for pick-up Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00AM through 12:00PM ONLY.
Applications cannot be filled out at the Section 8 office
Completed
applications must be MAILED

All applications must
be postmarked by April 30, 2020.

Applicants must be 18 years or older. The Head of Household or primary applicant is responsible for ensuring all information provided in the application is true and complete.
Any incomplete, illegible, or late applications will be returned to sender. Waiting list preference will be given to Dutchess County residents.

The City of Poughkeepsie Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program announces the acceptance of pre-applications for housing assistance during the dates of December 14th, 2015 at 9:00 am through February 29th, 2016 at 11:59 pm. ET.
Applications will only be accepted online. Preference will be given to applicants who live or work in Dutchess County.
The Housing Choice Voucher Program assistance covers the rent portion that exceeds approximately 30% of an eligible family’s monthly income. Any and all income-eligible households may submit a pre-application. Acceptance and/or assistance are based on income verification, eligibility requirements and preference factors. Maximum income levels, based on family size are as follows:

The Housing Choice Voucher Program
The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides tenant-based assistance, in the form of a voucher, to low-income families, seniors and persons with disabilities for rental units chosen by the tenant in the private market. The Housing Authority provides payment directly to participating property owners to offset the cost difference between tenant payments and unit rent. Program applicants choose from a variety of housing options, ranging from apartments, duplexes, single-family homes to townhomes.

On January 1, 2015, Interfaith Towers at 66 Washington Street in the City of Poughkeepsie will be receiving project-based vouchers under HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Program. The City anticipates administering 128 project-based vouchers to existing residents at the building.
